Highland Park gunman has been pictured and identified.
On July 4, as the parade in Chicago’s Highland Park was underway, a man armed with a rifle opened fire on the crowd from the roof of a local store.
In the mass shooting, at least 6 people were killed. An additional two dozen or more were left injured and in need of treatment.
The prime and sole person of interest, who remains at large as of this writing, has since been identified as 22-year-old Robert ‘Bobby’ Crimo III.
Also known as ‘Awake The Rapper,’ Crimo is a Highland Park resident and musical artist who back in October released a cryptic video showing a man pointing a rifle at another person. Along with the disturbing video were lyrics suggesting that a ‘life-changing’ event that can’t be stopped will soon take place.
As the manhunt for the young man continues, the authorities revealed they believe the person of interest was driving a 2010 silver Honda Fit with plates as follows: dm80653.
The police also said they were working to trace the weapon used to commit the murders to the rifle’s owner.
In chilling photos and footage from the parade-turned-massacre, people could be seen running for their lives after first mistaking gunshots for Independence Day fireworks.
While the death toll currently stands at six people, this number could rise due to the fact that several of the victims were rushed to hospitals in critical condition.
Among the injured were at least four to five children.
“It is a little surreal to take care of an event such as this. But all of us have undergone extensive training,” Brigham Temple of the NorthShore University HealthSystem said.
The manhunt for the gunman continues.
