Highland Park gunman has been arrested and remains in police custody after opening fire at the crowd gathered to watch the Fourth of July parade in Illinois.
22-year-old Robert ‘Bobby’ Crimo III has been apprehended by the police after allegedly opening fire from the roof of a Highland Park store and killing six people in the process.
While five people were pronounced dead at the scene, the sixth victim died in the hospital. An additional 24 victims were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Crimo was arrested following an hours-long manhunt that involved both members of local and federal law enforcement agencies.
In photos from the time of his arrest, Crimo was seen pinned to the ground with his hands cuffed behind his back as several officers and a K-9 unit stood by.
It has since the horrific mass shooting emerged that the suspect is a “rapper, singer, songwriter, actor and director from Chicago.”
His most viewed music video, called ‘On My Mind’, shows a suspect wearing a combat helmet laughing maniacally before dropping bullets to the floor in what resembles a ransacked classroom.
It was also reported that the self-proclaimed rapper operated two YouTube channels both of which were deleted after “violating YouTube’s Community Guidelines.”
In another concerning song, Crimo sang: “My actions will be valiant and my thought is unnecessary, I know what I have to do, I know what’s in it, not only for me, but for everyone else.”
He also shared depictions showing a person getting shot by a rifle in his music video dating back to October 2021.
Following the suspect’s arrest, it was revealed that Crimo’s family has various ties to Highland Park. The 22-year-old’s father, Bob Crimo, ran for mayor of the city under the slogan ‘a person for the people’ back in 2019.
Bob also runs a “family-oriented” business called Bob’s Pantry and Deli in the town.
The shooting remains under investigation and the motive for the massacre is yet to be confirmed.
Our thoughts remain with the victims and their families.
