Sylvia Mathews was found by authorities in an unconscious state, after suffering multiple injuries to her head. And that’s when it was revealed how the woman was allegedly killed by a man who started to mercilessly stalk and beat her, despite serving a jail sentence that spanned nearly two decades long.

Investigations into the harrowing case showed how the former con was previously arrested by the cops for terrorizing the same woman, right before he was freed earlier than expected, due to an outbreak of COVID-19 at the prison.

71-year-old Sylvia was found at her residence in Southwest Washington on the 3rd of December, and that was right after prosecutors chose to ignore Michael Garrett, despite the fact that he carried out two attacks on the poor woman in October.

The duo met one another when Matthews worked at a local prison and that was where the accused was serving a jail sentence, before his release in 1998.

Garrett started to stalk Matthews after being released from jail and for that reason, he was sent back to prison for 24 years when the court convicted him for breaking into her residence, which happened to be the same area where authorities found her dead last week.

After being released from prison on the basis of compassion relating to the COVID-19 outbreak, Garrett roamed around without any fear and started to further hound the poor woman on a regular basis.

Within a few months, he was accused of further terrorizing the woman, where he stalked and even started to beat her.

On the day of her death, the 71-year-old victim called up the police to report how Garret was trying to break into her vehicle and her home, but by the time they arrived, he was gone.
