The family of a healthy 9-year-old boy who mysteriously died in his sleep has spoken out after the tragic incident.
Logan Gagnier was a cheerful and bubbly young boy from West Jordan, Utah, who passed away in his sleep on Saturday despite being apparently healthy and having no signs of trauma or sickness.
As his family explained, the boy’s death followed a fun Friday with his family during which he played with his cousin and enjoyed his favorite food.
On the following morning, Logan’s mom, Rebecca, sent the boy’s sister to check on him and wake him up believing he was simply sleeping longer than usual.
The boy, however, was found unresponsive in his bed. He was later declared dead.
Since the preliminary autopsy results came back as inconclusive, the Logan family remains baffled not knowing what happened to the young boy who according to his father had no known health issues and was a healthy, active child.
“He was healthy and he was active, so that’s what’s confusing and frustrating. He was just such a personality in our family. He had so much left, I don’t know how we’re going to fill that hole,” Logan’s father, Garth, said in an interview with KSL-TV.
“Logan had so much to offer, because he treated people as if they were people.”
Meanwhile, Rebecca penned a touching tribute to her son on Facebook as she said her world shattered in an instant.
“Your world can shatter in an instant… Our world will never be the same. Please pray for my husband and me to know how to breathe,” the heartbroken mom wrote.
“Please pray for my son Ryan Gagnier, [who was] on a mission [and] who was Logan’s best friend. Please pray for my 15-year-old and 13-year-old and to process this tragedy.”
