The comedian who gained popularity after appearing in numerous comedy shows shared on All Def Digital YouTube channel has passed away at the age of 32.
The heartbreaking news about Teddy Ray’s death was confirmed in a Twitter post shared with Comedy Central.
The official statement included in the caption read: “Teddy Ray was a hilarious and beloved performer. He’ll be deeply missed by the entire comedy community.”
Ray, whose real name is Theodore Brown, was born on July 30, 1990, in Los Angeles.
He rose to fame by participating in local comedy scenes and performing at the Laugh Factory and the Improv.
He then started appearing in comedy shows on the All Def Digital YouTube channel.
The comedian’s first TV appearance was on BET’s Comic View before he appeared on All Def Comedy and Wind N’ Out.
His most recent appearance was in the HBO series Pause With Sam Jay.
He also completed on Scroll Wheel of Time before he passed away, The Wrap reported.
Many icons from the entertainment industry have paid tributes to Ray on social media.
Issa Rae of Hoorae Media also took to Twitter and shared a post about Ray: “Rest in Power to our longtime creative collaborator and friend, Teddy Ray. Grateful for the energy you always brought to our projects and sets!”
The actress also shared a photo of the late comedian to her Instagram Story with a white heart emoji on it.
Riverside County Sheriff’s Sgt. Brandi Swan told The LA Times that Ray’s ‘cause of death isn’t known.’
The case is being investigated by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.
