Hayden Panettiere’s younger brother had been suffering from anxiety and depression prior to his premature death last week.
Jansen Panettiere, the younger brother of the Nashville actress, died at his Palisades apartment at the age of 28 on Sunday, TMZ reported earlier this week.
It has since come to light that his sister, who was also his best friend, was left “inconsolable” and devastated over the sudden loss.
A source close to the family has also confirmed that Jansen was suffering from severe “anxiety and depression” before his untimely passing. He was also going through a “rough time” with his career while feeling that he was “being dragged in so many directions.”
“He had been having a rough time lately with his career and he was dragged in so many directions,” the insider said, DailyMail.com revealed.
“Hayden is just inconsolable. He was her best friend and her only brother. He was such a nice guy but he lived on the edge.”
Jansen, who followed in his sister’s footsteps and became an actor, secured roles in the likes of The Perfect Game, The Secrets of Jonathan Sperry, How High 2, The Martial Arts Kid, and Ice Age: The Meltdown.
According to his bio, “he was ridden with terrible anxiety and depression” after he started living on his own in Los Angeles.
“This period in his life eventually produced a spiritual clarity that drove him to start painting his problems, one by one. With more than 50 pieces, Jansen continues to heal himself as well as others with his visceral and emotive work,” the biography states.
Our thoughts are with Jansen’s family and friends during this challenging time.
