A father has reportedly slammed a jail sentence that was recently given to a man that killed his children.
According to local media reports, two young children tragically passed away within days of one another, thanks to the ruthless driving of a drunk driver.
The father of the children revealed how the driver tore his family apart while the kids were on their way to a birthday party. They were traveling back home with their mom when all of a sudden, their vehicle endured a devastating car crash while on the M4 highway.
They had been struck by a drunk van driver whose poor driving skills resulted in the kids being critically injured. Both siblings were known by their surname Wheaton.
The children passed away at the hospital as they tried to battle for their lives in the ICU but in the end, they just couldn’t come out strong.
After undergoing a trial, the family hoped to see the 41-year-old suspect named Newman punished to a severe degree. After all, he was the killer of the kids and had been high on both drinks and drugs.
The courtroom in Wales heard the devastating story and declared the suspect guilty of being over the drinking and driving limit while out with his friends. This was right before the crash had taken place and his vehicle had rammed into the family’s stationary car.
It was also revealed how the suspect had been guilty of drinking 10 cans of Strongbow as well as for taking cocaine, after returning back to the hotel room.
In the same way, the suspect did admit to dozing off a few times while on his journey. But in the end, he just couldn’t help himself and crash. But what has really surprised the father of the victims is how he was given a nine-year prison sentence despite the huge magnitude of his crime.
The father is now requesting a plea to have the jail sentence increased while slamming the current jail time as beyond ridiculous.
