A storm has reportedly left more than 30 people seriously injured in Spain while a young girl has lost her life in the aftermath of the disaster.
According to local media outlets, the one-year-old child tragically passed away after a 4in hail stone fell on top of her, crushing her to death.
The toddler was struck with the mighty stone near the Catalan town of La Bisbal de l’Emporda as revealed by local media outlets. She was immediately rushed to a nearby local medical hospital in Girona on Tuesday, sources revealed. However, doctors pronounced her dead, a few hours later.
One other survivor of the deadly storm says she was admitted to the same hospital where the girl was being treated. She also suffered from severe injuries due to the poor weather conditions that have struck the nation.
Meanwhile, a total of 28 others were also reportedly injured in the storm and were rushed to the hospital to attain medical aid, sources explained.
While some suffered from serious head injuries, there were others who suffered from intense bruising, broken bones, and cuts from the ice.
Spain is facing an intense bout of poor weather for a while now. And this is being hailed as one of the worst storms that the nation has witnessed in a long time.
The toddler who died was just one of the 30 people who were seriously injured from hail stones falling in all directions around town.
Sources from local media outlets confirmed how many other buildings and vehicles had been damaged in the aftermath of the incident as well. Witnesses described horrifying scenes where hail stones that were as large as giant tennis balls took center stage.
They managed to smash tiles located on rooftops and even caused some major dents to solar panels as well.
