Two men have reportedly been accused and charged with the murder of an off-duty Texas deputy.
According to local media reports, both men were responsible for shooting and killing the officer that was busy buying groceries. But little did he know that his death was so near.
The officer is said to have left the grocery store during the later hours of Thursday night. And right before he could drive off safely, he was gunned down.
At the moment, two men have been accused of the tragic incident while the cops are still on the lookout for a third individual.
23-year-old Joshua Stewart and his partner in crime, 19-year-old Fredarius Clark were both charged by authorities recently for the capital murder of the off-duty deputy. The victim has been revealed as a Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy named Darren Almendarez.
“He had just come out a few moments after making a grocery stop at Joe V’s Smart Shop. He was with his wife and that’s when he saw another vehicle back up near to his own truck, all of a sudden. There were two males inside and they definitely appeared suspicious to the officer”- mentioned the police.
At the moment, it is still unclear as to what really went on and why the men chose to kill the officer in the first place.
But the Harris County Sheriff’s Office says the officer tried to intervene when he saw a crime being committed.
While it’s still unclear as to what really went on, they say perhaps it had to do with a catalytic converter.During the incident, the officer requested his wife to go somewhere else, a place that would be safe while he tried to put the criminals to justice. But in the end, he was shot dead while trying to approach the suspected car that reportedly had three different people inside.
