Horrifying reports are coming in from the Netherlands where a gun rampage incident has been confirmed at a center for disabled children.
According to reports from local media outlets, one teenage girl and another woman were killed while two others have been left with critical injuries, including one child, when a gunman opened fire at the Dutch farm day center.
The incident is said to have taken place near the city of Rotterdam.
Police claim that one 38-year-old suspect was arrested from the scene of the terrifying crime and is now under police custody, right after the tragic shootings took place on Friday.
Local media outlets have gone as far as naming the gunman as John S. He is believed to have opened fire on the victims during the morning hours, killing a 34-year-old woman who went to see her horse in the stables that were located on the farm. On the other hand, the other victim was identified as an innocent 16-year-old victim.
The other two people that are severely injured are battling for their life at the hospital, moments after they were rushed by paramedics to receive immediate medical attention after the tragedy. They included a 12-year-old boy and a 20-year-old woman too, as confirmed by the local authorities in the area.
Witnesses located nearby say they heard several gunshots being fired into the farm and that’s when they ran towards the meadow site to take cover.
Sources added how the suspect that is in police custody was known to be very confused and an absolute nuisance. However, past records did not reveal any criminal activity.
It is still unclear as to why anyone would ever attack a place like the Dutch farm that houses disabled kids and old-age adults with Alzheimer’s. For now, investigations into the tragedy continue as police try to gather more evidence in regards to what happened and why.
