President Joe Biden has recently signed a new bipartisan gun bill after the tragic Uvalde Elementary School shooting incident in Texas.
According to reports from local media outlets, the president was all smiles after the signing of the new bill which he called a historic landmark for the country as well as a monumental occasion that would assist in putting a curb to gun violence, which in turn had the great potential to save countless lives.
Biden was pictured making his signatures on the bill with his wife and US First Lady Jill Biden by his side.
The president was then seen sending out a clear message to the families of the victims of gun advocates which included: “Their message to us was to just do something! And today I can tell you that we did!”
The new bill was seen passing both the House of Senate as well as the Republican and Democratic lawmakers who showed an incredible amount of support for it.
The law in turn is known to toughen the background checks for the younger lot who were previously allowed to purchase weapons of their free will, as soon as they turned 18. But now, with this new bill in place, that will no longer be possible, the President confirmed.
Many in the US are looking at this news with a more positive angle after being immensely disappointed at yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling that comprised of overruling of the Roe v. Wade act and hence taking away the right to abortion that belonged to every American in the past.
Biden was seen signing the bill moments before he made his way to Europe to attend the high-profile G7 and NATO meetings.
The signing ceremony reportedly took place in the White House’s Roosevelt Room.
