But on the way to Singleton, the vehicle rolled over on Wine Country Drive at Greta, killing ten people and leaving 25 others injured.
It has been revealed that bus driver Brett Andrew Button, 58, has been charged with 10 counts of dangerous driving occasioning death.
He was granted bail and was seen leaving Cssnock police station after spending the night in a police cell while repeating ‘I’m sorry.’
On July 5, Gaffney joined grieving friends and family at the funeral of his friend Zachary Bray, who was remembered for his resilient nature after winning against cancer in 2019.
“Although you’ll never get the chance to put the jumper on again, you’ll always be there by our side,” Gaffney expressed, adding that his friend was known by his nickname ‘Lab’ – short for Labrador.
“They’re pretty smart dogs, they’re extremely loveable but no matter what they do, they do it with that big goofy smile,” he continued. “That was the first impression he made and it still holds true.
“We will forever cherish the memories that we are lucky enough to hold together.”
The other victims of the fatal crash were Nadene McBride, her daughter Kyah McBride, Kyah’s partner Kane Symons, Andrew and Lynan Scott, Angus Craig, Tori Cowburn, Rebecca Mullen and Darcy Bulman.
Over $1 million has been raised for the victims and families of those involved in the incident.
