A groom whose wife was killed after they got married is now sharing his heartbreaking story.
Samantha Miller and Aric Hutchinson just tied the knot on April 28 and were riding a golf cart while leaving their reception when they were struck by an alleged drunk driver.
The impact killed the bride and critically injured Aric, as well as two others.
Speaking to Good Morning America, Hutchinson said: “She was so happy. I mean, planning a wedding, as most people know, is extremely stressful. And she just had a weird, like, calmness that night,” adding that the wedding and the reception were the best nights of his life.
Hutchinson said that he is not ready to address the alleged driver.
“I can’t right now,” he expressed. “I’d like to. I mean, she stole an amazing human being that should not have been taken.”
A GoFundMe page setup by Hutchinson’s mother revealed that he broke both legs, his back, and parts of his face, and suffered brain bleeds.
Jamie Komoroski, the alleged drunk driver that struck the golfcart, was arrested and charged with three counts of DUI causing death and bodily injury and one count of reckless homicide.
She was allegedly driving 65 mph in a 25 mph zone when the incident happened.
More than 100 people gathered at Folly Beach for a vigil to honor Samantha.
“She would’ve loved it,” Hutchinson said. “This is Sam. I mean, she’s a beach girl, through and through. We do walk here almost every morning, and this is her send-off for sure. She’s up there smiling for sure.”
