Nelson Mandela’s grandson is beyond furious and upset at the recent remarks of Meghan Markle that were made in her bombshell interview with a New York magazine called The Cut.
According to local media outlets, Zwelivelile Mandla says he was awfully shocked and surprised that the Duchess would even think of saying something like that, without using her head.
He slammed her statement and said there was no truth in it, adding that her marriage to a white Prince had nothing to do with his grandfather’s freedom.
“She needs to understand that overcoming 60 years of apartheid is not the same as marrying a white prince!”- he boldly revealed.
In the magazine, Meghan shared an anecdote where she revealed how a man in South Africa explained how so many people took to the streets and began dancing when he tied the knot with Prince Harry, similar to how they danced when Nelson Mandela was freed from prison.
Mandla was seen revealing how the celebration of Mandela was due to overcoming more than 350 years of colonialism. And more than 60 years of the most brutal apartheid regime in the country. Hence, for that reason, no matter what people say, these two incidents could never be equated together.
When he was questioned by Daily Mail about whether or not he felt the statement was correct, he declined and said that was not possible.
He also said there was nothing that could equate to the struggles that the nation and his grandfather had faced, especially when it came down to marrying a white prince.
