The great-grandmother who suffered severe injuries when a car crashed into her home months ago has now passed away.
92-year-old Edna Kearns from Greater Manchester, England, was rushed to the hospital last November after 39-year-old Michael Vose crashed into her bungalow with his BMW while she was sleeping.
Earlier this year, following her treatment for serious leg injuries, the elderly lady was discharged from the hospital and allowed to return home.
Shortly after her return home, however, Kearns had to be readmitted to the hospital where she passed away on April 8.
As of this writing, it remains unclear whether her death is related to the injuries she had suffered during the November incident or not.
According to Lesley Lister, the woman’s granddaughter, an autopsy has since been scheduled to determine the senior’s cause of death.
“Grandma was a very special lady, she was a fighter till the very end,” Lesley said in a tribute to her grandma.
“We’ll never forget her witty sense of humor she kept till the very end. Her presence is already greatly missed by all the family. It’s left a huge hole in our hearts.”
Kearns’ passing comes just months after driver Michael Vose crashed into the woman’s bungalow with a force strong enough to make a large hole in the brick wall and compromise the stability of the house.
Since the incident, Vose pleaded guilty to causing criminal damage and causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
On the same day, Vose was also convicted of assault and damage to a property in relation to a separate incident.
