Terrifying reports are coming in about a passenger plane that reportedly went missing just a few minutes after it took off in Nepal.
According to local media reports, the passenger plane was carrying 22 people on board when all of a sudden it went off the radar, shortly after take-off.
Experts believe the plane disappeared in the mountains and hence are growing fears that it has crashed.
The aircraft is stated to have lost complete contact with the authorities located in the airport tower, right after take-off.
On most occasions, planes that fly in and out of the airport usually follow a path between mountains, right before they land in a valley. Therefore, the airport is usually declared to be a little dangerous due to its geographic location and surrounding mountains.
For now, authorities are not giving out too much information as an investigation is being conducted into the plane’s search.
The incident reportedly took place during the early hours of Sunday and was said to be a De Havilland Canada DHC-6-300 Twin Otter. Moreover, what we do know is that flight was scheduled to arrive in the mountain town of Jomsom. The flight was a short one, nearly 15 minutes in total duration.
However, just shortly after it took off, it went off the radar and lost complete contact with the control tower.
The plane initially began its journey from the town of Pokhara which is known for its tourist attractions. This is located just 125km away from the capital city of Kathmandu.
The Nepalese Army is carrying out a search and rescue operation and is on the lookout for the plane which is yet to be found. They believe it may have crashed in and around the region of Lete.
Army sent out paramedics and fire trucks in that area which were recently spotted by locals.
