Two young girls aged 14 and 16 claimed to be victims of human trafficking to earn a mother’s trust before abducting her 3-month-old baby.
Scathina Cureton told police that the teens took her baby Anthony after she invited them into her home in Milwaukee.
The mother said she was left heartbroken after the girls approached her at a store nearby her house and claimed that they were homeless because “their mom was making them do things with her boyfriend at home.”
“…If they didn’t have a ride I was willing to call an Uber or a Lyft for them to get to where they got to go, but they never stayed here. That was never the intention,” she said.
However, the teens took advantage of her kindness and abducted baby Anthony.
Speaking to Fox, the 35-year-old mother said: “They basically lied to me, like they was being trafficked and molested. I offered for them to come to my house to find somewhere to go…It got a little late, I end up dozing off, and when I dozed off my baby was gone, they was gone and my door was unlocked.”
Scathina immediately called police when she realized her child and the girls were missing. An Amber Alert was issued and the baby was safely returned to her arms.
The teens are now in custody at a juvenile detention facility.
“I feel they should be prosecuted to the max because they didn’t have no business taking my baby. I mean stuff like this only happens on Lifetime movies,” the mother told WISN.
“Only thing I can do right now is thank god, that they found my baby,,” Scathina told Fox.
“I really thank the community, because I see there was a lot of people out here, the Milwaukee Police Department. They did a good job.”
