The 11-year-old girl who drowned during a water park birthday party at Liquid Leisure in Berkshire was pictured and named.
Kyra Hill vanished during the party on Saturday, sparking ‘chaos’ as staff and parents started screaming her name around the park.
According to reports, around 40 adults dived into the waters and lifeguards borrowed goggles from guests to search under inflatables.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and arrived at 3:55 pm but Kyra wasn’t found until 5:10pm.
It is understood that the birthday girl’s mother checked with all the parents that their children could swim.
According to Liquid Leisure, it requires guests to confirm that they are strong swimmers and provides life jackets for inflatables.
“Kyra was so kind,” her friend said. “She was really smart, she was at the top of all our classes. She liked to make people smile, she cared about people.”
The 12-year-old classmate played football with Kyra.
The parent of one of Kyra’s other classmates said in tears: “She was such a sweet girl.”
A relative took to social media and wrote: “Your smile and hugs gave me life and you will never forgotten.”
This comes as a mother-of-two, Melissa Henson, said that her own daughter had also fallen between inflatables at the park.
Her daughter was wedged in by her life jacket and her head was under the water.
“I’m convinced she would have drowned if me and my husband weren’t watching,” she told Mail Online.
“We brought it to management, who apologized and gave us a voucher to come back. I was watching the news and thinking: ‘This could have been my daughter.’”
