A young female student was stabbed to death by her stepfather after stepping up to the man when he assaulted her mother.
21-year-old Angelina Tran was a hardworking engineering student at the University of Washington who was at her Seattle home with her mom, Linh Ngoc Tran, and stepfather, Nghiep Kein Chau, when the two had a fight earlier this month.
According to the reports, the 54-year-old man assaulted his partner by punching her in the face several times. That’s when Angelina intervened and stepped between him and her mother in an attempt to protect her.
During the altercation, Chau stabbed his stepdaughter 107 times – a brutal act that was caught on camera by the home’s CCTV system.
During the onslaught, Linh managed to run to another room from which she called the police.
Later, the 21-year-old was found dead with dozens of wounds to her body, whereas Chau was still wielding a knife when the police stormed the house.
“This murder appeared to be the result of anger at his stepdaughter for intervening in the defendant’s attack on her mother. Angelina Tran’s intervention allowed her mother to escape and hide in a nearby bedroom, but the defendant did not stop his attack,” the police report says.
Chau has since been arrested and charged with first-degree murder and first-degree attempted murder. He is being held at King County Correctional Facility on a $5 million bond.
While speaking to the police, the man alleged that he was angry with his wife because he thought, she was going to take his money and divorce him.
