A young girl is among thousands of survivors who were left trapped underneath rubble for days after the 7.
8-magnitude earthquake rocked parts of Syria and Turkey.
Six-year-old Miray was at her home in Adiyaman, Turkey, with her older sister when the ground began shaking and the building collapsed over their heads.
For more than seven grueling days, the child remained trapped underneath debris while fighting for her life with her final ounces of energy.
Fortunately, rescue teams reached Miray just in time to provide her with emergency treatment and save her life.
According to the reports, the girl had spent 178 hours trapped under the rubble, whereas rescuers are now rushing to reach her older sister.
Rescuers have also shared a harrowing report concerning a 13-year-old boy who was clutching the staff’s hand when they pulled him out from a collapsed building in the province of Hatay.
The teenager was then placed on a stretcher before being rushed to the hospital in an ambulance.
As rescue missions across the two countries continue, the death toll has already risen above 37,000. UN officials, however, have warned that the death toll may exceed 55,000 by the time everyone is accounted for.
The news comes shortly after the Mexican Ministry of Defense announced the death of a brave rescue dog, Proteo the German Shepherd.
“Thank you Proteo for your heroic work, you fulfilled the Mexican Army’s mission,” they revealed.
“The members of the Mexican Army and Air Force deeply regret the loss of our great companion, the dog ‘Proteo,’ you fulfilled your mission as a member of the Mexican Delegation in the search and rescue of our brothers in Turkey. We are proud of you.”
It was since confirmed that Proteo was dispatched to Turkey along with search teams to assist in looking for the victims of the quake.
Our thoughts remain with the victims of the Turkey-Syria earthquake during this challenging time.
