The grieving daughter of teacher Irma Garcia and husband Joe Garcia wrote an emotional tribute to her parents.
16-year-old Lyliana Garcia was left orphaned after her mother was killed in Robb Elementary School shooting and her father died only hours after laying flowers on his wife’s memorial.
Lyliana wrote an emotional tribute to her parents on a heart attached to a cross with her father’s name that has also been put at the site.
“Dad, I know this was too much for you. Your heart could not take I,” Lyliana wrote.
“I will spend the rest of my life fighting for you and mom. Your names will not be forgotten. Your daughter, Lyliana.”
Joe, 50, was seen visiting his late wife’s memorial only hours before he died of what his family said was a broken heart.
A GoFundMe for the couple’s orphaned children has raised more than $2.6 million.
Among those who have donated include ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ star Porsha Williams, singer-song wroter Alexa Ray Joel, YouTuber Mona Kattan, and Destiny’s Child singer Kelly Rowland.
The GoFundMe page was created by Irma’s cousin, Debra Austin, who wrote: “I truly believe Joe died of a broken heart and losing the love of his life of more than 25 years was too much to bear.”
She also said that Irma “would literally do anything for anybody, no questions asked. She loved her classroom kids and died trying to protect them.”
The couple’s orphaned children are Alysandra, 12; Lyliana, 16; Jose, 19; and Cristian, 23.
Irma was shot by gunman Salvador Ramos alongside her co-teacher Eva Mireles, and 19 of their students.
Irma at the time taught third grade.
“I am so excited to begin this new school year already!” she wrote on the website of the school district before the start of the academic year.
