The grieving family of a young girl who was mauled to death by a “bulldog-type” dog at her home has spoken out.
4-year-old Alice Stones from Milton Keynes, England, was playing in the garden at her family home when she was attacked by a dog that her family had just recently adopted.
Unfortunately, the girl succumbed to her injuries before the police arrived at the scene and the dog was put down.
The girl’s parents have since spoken out through a family friend, Grace Wenham, who also launched a GoFundMe page to raise funds for the child’s funeral and send-off.
“The family of the little girl want to thank everyone who has donated, shared or sent their condolences during this horrendous time,” Wenham wrote.
“Nothing has gone unnoticed and they are overwhelmed with the love felt by the community during this unthinkable tragedy.”
Meanwhile, it has come to light that the bulldog-type dog that the family had adopted was with the family for just a few weeks before the brutal mauling.
Neighbors also claimed the dog was “excitable” and kept on growling and barking in the moments before the attack.
“We’re just trying to come to terms with what has happened. It’s horrendous,” Alice’s grandfather expressed.
Speaking out were also the family’s neighbors, friends, and locals including Lesley Dwyer and Rita Matthews.
“We came along past the house last night and heard a dog barking in the garden. It sounded like it was quite excited, it was growling and barking. I didn’t see it, but it sounded like a big dog – we have a dog and you can tell,” Dwyer said.
“Alice was their only child. My daughter went to the same school and we would often walk together,” Matthews added.
“I never saw her with a dog, and she had never mentioned that they had got one. It is just heartbreaking and I cannot imagine what Louise is going through.”
Our thoughts remain with Alice’s family and friends during this challenging time.
