A young girl has penned a heartbreaking letter to Santa after her father was killed just days before Christmas.
7-year-old Sa’Raya from Douglasville, Georgia, has captured the hearts of people from all around the world after writing a tear-jerking Christmas letter in which she asked Santa to give her back her dad.
Sa’Raya’s father, 37-year-old Joshua Mitchell, was a Marine and a father-of-three who was shot dead in his driveway after arriving home from work on December 17.
Following her dad’s sudden passing, the young girl made a devastating plea to Santa asking for no other gift than to see her father again.
“Dear Santa, all I want for Christmas is I want my dad back. I love my dad. Someone hurt my dad,” the child wrote in her letter according to Sa’Raya’s mother and Joshua’s wife Nicoele.
The little girl went on to explain that she wants “God to bring back” her father while insisting she is always good in school.
“I want God to bring him back. I’m getting good grades and I [am] good at school,” Sa’Raya continued.
Speaking of the heartbreaking letter to 11 Alive, the widow fought back her tears as she revealed her husband was an “honorable Marine and an entrepreneur, as well as a devoted husband and stepfather.”
“He was the type of person that would give people an opportunity even off of the streets,” she said.
“I’m glad that that morning before he left off to work – we got to say those words [I love you] to each other. That will forever be in my brain – his kiss and ‘I love you.’”
As of this writing, the police have yet to make any arrests in connection with the chilling murder.
Our thoughts are with Joshua’s family and friends during this challenging time.
