A teenage girl died suddenly and unexpectedly while taking a shower before going to bed.
19-year-old Rhea Hourigan from the UK was visiting her aunt in Paris, France, when she suffered a cardiac arrest despite being known as a healthy individual without any known medical complications.
According to the reports, the teen was getting ready for bed when she decided to take a shower and reassured her aunt that she was feeling great.
While cleaning herself up, however, the young lady suddenly collapsed and died “without suffering.”
As her heartbroken mother revealed, the only comfort that she can find in the tragedy is that her daughter passed away without pain.
She also explained that Rhea was excitedly touring the French capital earlier that day using her electric bike to visit various tourist places.
While the paramedics rushed to her aunt’s place in a matter of minutes after the teen collapsed, Rhea could sadly not be saved. She was pronounced dead in the early morning on April 29.
“She had so many plans, dreams and aspirations she was our bright shining star,” the girl’s mother, Jo, said in a tribute to her daughter.
“She hadn’t even finished her first year of uni which she absolutely loved up in Durham and had made so many good friends.
“Our only comfort is that she was so happy and had such a brilliant day seeing the sights of Paris, she wouldn’t have known what had happened and didn’t suffer.”
A GoFundMe page has since been set up by Dawn Buchanan to help the grieving family bring Rhea back home and pay for the funeral costs.
“The family are back now from Paris but Rhea is still there as there will be an autopsy next week then hopefully she will be able to come home a few days after that,” the page reads.
“Their friends and family wanted to reach out and help as much as they can to ease the financial burden a little with any costs they will be incurring during this devasting time and the coming weeks and months.”
