Little Sahara Salman was found dead in the ruins of her home in Thornton Heath, England, following a massive gas explosion on Monday.

According to the reports, Sahara’s parents, Syed Muhammad Salman Ilyas and Sana Ahmad, were lucky to survive the blast along with the girl’s two siblings.

Following the incident, Sahara’s mother said the family’s “world has been torn apart” as she lashed out at Southern Gas Networks and accused them of negligence.

The family insisted that the gas provider was already contacted about a suspected leak one week before the blast on July 30 but failed to act in time to prevent the disastrous explosion that damaged several homes.

“My instinct was to grab all my children but as I’d gone to the hallway Sahara’s room had collapsed already. There was no sign of me even getting to her,” Ahmad said as she recalled the harrowing ordeal.

“The explosion was so bad that it almost felt like missiles were dropped on the properties. That’s how quickly the building started to fall down.

“Within seconds of me screaming – it was my dad and my uncle who made their way into the property. They had to break down the door to get in and they pulled my children out to safety. My family did everything to help us at that point.”

As the mother argued, she called SGN about the suspected gas leak on July 30. The following day, a worker reported to the family home and reassured them that there were no major issues.

Ahmad, however, insisted that the man was “not totally sure” and promised to send another worker to inspect the issue. The second worker never showed up according to the family.

“The work wasn’t fully carried out …They did tell us there were loads of little gas leaks – they said that pipes had been leaking but that they were minor leaks,” the grieving mom added.

“The saddest thing is that we tried to prevent this from happening. The gas people should have ensured the safety of not only us but every single person who lives in that area. Now we’re all suffering – the whole community. And now we all have to live with the trauma of a little girl dying.”

Meanwhile, a family friend revealed that four children had to be taken to hospital as a result of the blast.

He said: “Yesterday the mum was crying and she was in a horrible situation as she had just lost a baby. I was called up at around 9 am yesterday and was told ‘uncle, there has been a big blast at a neighbor’s house.”
