13-year-old Oliwia Szewc was at Babbs Mill Park in Solihull, England, when she saw four young boys fall into the icy lake after the ice covering it cracked.

Unfortunately, three of the four boys did while the fourth one is still fighting for his life at the hospital.

As Oliwia now told ITV News, she was visiting the park on Sunday to meet with her friend when the ice sheet covering the lake snapped and the four children plunged into freezing water.

Determined to do her best to help them out, the teenager looked for branches in an attempt to pull the boys to safety. Sadly, they were all either too short or too thin for a successful rescue.

After the boys were finally pulled out of the water, Oliwia and her friend also gave them their winter coats to try and raise their body temperature.

“I was just trying my best to think of different ways to at least help them or do anything for them to float on the surface of the water so they wouldn’t drown,” the 13-year-old recalled.

She further explained that a man, who is believed to be a relative of one of the boys, jumped into the icy water to try and save the kids.

“He jumped into the frozen lake and cut up his legs but couldn’t really do anything because he was putting his own life at risk. He didn’t go any farther because the police held him back,” Oliwia added.

After the four children were finally pulled to safety, first responders began asking “for jackets and coats to try to bring the boys, like, temperature back up.”

That’s when Oliwia stepped in and offered her coat while praying for the kids to survive.

“I gave my coat, my friend gave her jacket. We were just kind of praying that the boys would be all right.  I was willing to give up anything just at least to save one of them,” the 13-year-old continued.

“Knowing that one of them is still in hospital is kind of a relief because I was at least able to help someone. It was just horrifying and I was just clueless because I tried to help but I couldn’t but I tried my best.”
