A total of eight US soldiers were reportedly injured after a truck slammed into the back of a military convoy, resulting in a massive blaze on the German highway.
As a result of the incident, a total of three US army vehicles, which included two fuel tankers, were pushed aside on the road when the giant articulated truck that was loaded with wood chips rammed into the back of them on Monday.
The incident reportedly took place in the German city of Bavaria as revealed by local media outlets today.
Due to the tragic incident, at least 8 US soldiers have been injured and sent to the hospital for their respective checkups due to smoke inhalation.
At the moment, the German police are looking at the incident as an accident where they claim nearly 660 gallons of fuel present in the tanks didn’t catch fire but the wood chips present in the giant commercial truck as well as its tires blew up in flames.
Tragic photos of the incident showed how the vehicles were quickly engulfed in those giant fumes of smoke and flames as German firefighters rushed to the scene to assist in tackling the blaze, using both foam and water to douse off the flame.
Meanwhile, one spokesperson for the 7th Army Training Command responded to the Press, adding how the three vehicles from the US were on their way on the motorway from Hohenfels to Grafenwohr.
Since the vehicles had been separated from those that were supposed to escort them, they were forced to wait on the side of the road. And that is the exact location where the crash had taken place.
In the accident, all three US vehicles were completely destroyed but luckily, no soldier is said to be in critical danger as a result of the explosion that took place, they explained.
