The actress who voiced Anna in Japan’s dubbed version of the hit animated Walt Disney film ‘Frozen’ has tragically died after she fell from a 22-story hotel.
35-year-old Sayaka Kanda, the daughter of singer Seiko Matsunada, 59, and actor Masaki Kanda, 70, was staying at the hotel on December 18 when the incident happened.
She was found lying on the ground after an apparent fall from her hotel room window.
Kanda was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. The exact cause of death is still being investigated.
According to reports, Kanda failed to show up for the musical ‘My Fair Lady’ at a theatre in Sapporo on Saturday.
She reportedly attended rehearsals on Friday but did not show up for her Saturday performance.
Kanda’s agency confirmed the tragic news in a statement, writing: “Kanda Sayaka (35 years old) died suddenly at 9:40pm on December 18, 2021.
“We are very sorry to give such a report to all the fans who supported us and all the people who took care of us.
“We are still unable to accept her passing and are trying to cope with it.”
Takako Matsu, the voice of Elsa in the Japanese dubbed version of Frozen, said: “The time we spent together is an irreplaceable treasure for me.”
Amon Miyamoto, a director who worked with the 35-year-old actress, also said: “I feel really sad and regretful. She was just getting started and I wish she could have lived longer.”
One person commented: “Very sad tragic so sorry so young and talented such a shame rip to this beautiful young lady and my sincere condolences to the family and friends of this good lady.”
Another wrote: “Poor girl. Our world is cruel.”
Someone else said: “R.I.P. so sad and such a tragic way to go.”
