Cops have reportedly arrested a 22-year-old man on the suspicion of murdering his girlfriend.
The victim has been identified as a 19-year-old City University student named Sabita Thanwani who was reportedly found dead in her student housing.
Local media reports confirmed how the young student was murdered in a brutal manner as her neck was covered with injuries of the most severe kind.
The victim’s body was located at her London halls, as reported by officials recently.
The suspect was identified as 22-year-old Maher Maaroufe. He is being accused of killing Sabita who happened to be a British national.
A recent manhunt had been announced by the cops in collaboration with the detectives. Their efforts paved the way after the victim’s boyfriend was recently arrested after being traced.
The duo was believed to have been in a relationship.
Now, MET police have gone about releasing a CCTV image of the suspect named Maher. The image was caught at the student accommodation area during the early hours of Saturday morning.
The suspect is believed to be a national of Tunisia and was not a student at the university. He is also believed to have had a great traveling record recently with a number of links across both London as well as Cambridgeshire.
But police have also warned that the suspect has since then shaved off her beard and hair to make him appear very different.
While the police are yet to carry out a formal identification of the suspect, the victim’s family has been informed about the incident and is currently being assisted by a number of specialist officers during this incredibly difficult time, as explained by reports.
