Tragic reports have confirmed the death of the former Pope Benedict XVI, who was the first Pope to resign in over 600 years.
Heartbreaking followers of the Christian community were quick to express their grief regarding the news as tributes from leaders around the globe took center stage.
The Pope was well known for promoting peace and goodwill across the globe and many felt he was the bravest of them all when he opted to resign from the position following his poor health as he felt that he was not suitable for the role.
The condolences are being sent through Pope Francis, sources revealed. Meanwhile, other details regarding his death were linked to poor health and in the past week or so, it was dramatically going down further. He is believed to have passed away today at 9:34 am and that news was confirmed by his loved ones.
Within minutes of the announcement, hundreds of tributes started to pour in and many were drowned in sadness with images of the Pope and his words circulating around social media regarding the incident.
Words of both praise and fond remembrance were seen arising with many wondering when the funeral would occur.
Moreover, that is when the Vatican announced that it would be a very simple funeral and not a grand occasion as that was his wish.
“In keeping with his holiness’ wishes, we will be keeping the funeral very simple. This will be a time of remembrance as we mourn the loss as a period of intense sadness”- the message from the Vatican went on to add.
After that, so many words of praise and remembrance arose all of a sudden, and that happened from all sorts of world leaders and religious figures who sent out their condolences to Pope Francis on this occasion.
