Tragic reports coming in from Mariupol in Ukraine have confirmed the death of world-renowned kickboxing champion Maksym Kagal.
Sources spoke about how the 30-year-old was extremely patriotic in nature and wished to defend his nation against the ongoing Russian invasion.
For this reason, he told his coach how he wished to fight alongside his country’s military forces but little did he know that it would take away his life in the end.
Kagal died during battle in Mariupol on Monday, sending shockwaves around the country and world of kickboxing too.
He was reportedly a part of his country’s Azov Battalion Unit, his coach went on to further confirm.
The news comes as the Ukrainian port city of Mariupol is currently under major hostile attack by Russian troops from all directions.
“It is with great sadness and grief that sometimes the war can really take out the best of the best. And today, Maksym Kagal has died while defending his city and country”- mentioned a heartbreaking statement by his coach named Mr. Skirta.
The coach elaborated further by shedding light on how the young star was the world’s first-ever kickboxing champion who hailed from Kremenchug. He was also described as a man who had great honesty and integrity and also someone that worked so hard to achieve so much in his life.
The kickboxer had very similar passions and plans, similar to those of other civilians in his nation. He always wished to fight for the freedom of his country from Russian invaders but ended up dying in battle.
Sources revealed that the Ukrainian city of Mariupol is quickly being turned into dust due to the increased number of military strikes by Russian troops on a daily basis.
