A video of Dalai Lama making singer Lady Gaga feel uncomfortable as he touched and tickled her leg has resurfaced after controversy surrounding the spiritual leader kissing a young boy and asking him to ‘suck his tongue’.
The incident with Gaga happened in 2016, when popular stars gathered at a conference in Indiana.
The main focus of Dalai Lama’s meeting with the singer was to encourage more kindness in the world.
Even though the sound of the clip is not clear, it can be heard that the speaker mentioned that Dalai Lama tickled Gaga’s leg.
When the 87-year-old removed his hand, the singer looked him in the eye and just smiled awkwardly.
He then tried to touch her leg again but Gaga quickly put her hand on his to stop. The speaker also interrupted and said: “If I can get their attention…”
Dalai Lama has apologized to the young boy and his family, saying he ‘regrets’ what happened.
The footage of Gaga, which was posted by Oli London on Twitter, has been viewed more than 1.6 million times as the backlash against the spiritual leader continues.
One person commented on the video: “I have a feeling we will start to see more videos.”
Another wrote: “She doesn’t look comfortable at all. I didn’t know he was such a creeper.”
But others were quick to defend Dalai Lama, with one person writing: “Are you aware in some part of the world touching, teasing and laughing is considered normal. You need to travel and learn more. Whatever you have been taught so far it hasn’t have to be that way. Every culture and country is different. Men holding hands is normal in some.”
