Renowned drummer Taylor Hawkins of the band ‘Foo Fighters’ has suddenly died at the age of 50.
According to reports from local media outlets, Hawkins was reportedly found in an unresponsive state inside his hotel room in Bogota, Columbia.
This is where the band was all set to perform at a leading music festival and for that reason, we’re in the country. But did anyone know that Hawkins would suddenly die?
The Foo Fighters has just come around completing a range of tours in South America and they were also scheduled to make an appearance soon in April for the Grammy Awards.
A heartbreaking statement was released on the band’s behalf where they confirmed his death and spoke about how devastated they were regarding the tragic news.
“We are so devastated by this untimely loss. We request for prayers and for the privacy of his family to be respected during this difficult time”- the statement read.
Last Sunday, the band had played at several locations that included Argentina and San Isidro as their tour of South America was at its peak.
The drummer is said to have been an integral part of the band, along with its star lead singer Dave Grohl, Pat Smear, Rami Jaffee, Nate Mendel, and Chris Shiflett.
Investigations into the heartbreaking tragedy are currently taking place. However, initial reports from the police in Columbia have indicated how the musician’s death could be related to drugs.
“The cause of death is yet to be determined”- read a recent statement by the Metropolitan Police in Bogota.
“According to all those that were close to the drummer, his death could potentially be related to consuming drugs”- the further elaborated.
Reports from local media outlets also spoke about how emergency services were called after the celeb suffered from chest pains. However, by the time the paramedics had arrived, he was already dead.
Meanwhile, other reports suggested how the drummer had previously opened up in the past about his issues relating to drugs and heroin overdose, which was the cause of his coma in 2001, four years after he joined the group.
