A young cabin crew member died suddenly and unexpectedly after the plane she was on landed at an airport.
24-year-old Greta Dyrmishi was an active Air Albania member of staff who frequently took to the skies to work as a flight attendant on both domestic and international flights.
Back in December, the young lady was on a plane going from Albania to England when she collapsed suddenly after the aircraft hit the tarmac at Stansted Airport.
Following a post-mortem, it was concluded that the flight attendant died of “sudden adult death syndrome,” a state referring to a young person dying from a heart arrest caused by unknown triggers.
Despite being described as “seriously ill” upon the plane’s landing, Greta appeared to be in perfect health in the hours leading to her tragic death.
“This 24-year-old female was cabin crew on a flight from Albania and was on the tarmac when she appeared to faint and was given basic first aid,” Essex coroner Michelle Brown said.
“Ten minutes later there was no pulse and CPR commenced. Paramedics treated her and confirmed she had passed away. A post-mortem found her cause of death to be sudden adult death syndrome.”
The coroner continued: “[At the time of her passing] she was at the front by the doors on a plane at Stansted Airport. This is suitable for a documentary inquest in due course.”
Meanwhile, Air Albania paid a tribute to the aspiring cabin crew member whom they remembered as “passionate” and “professional.”
“On December 21, after disembarking the passengers from our flight to London, one of our cabin crew Greta Dyrmishi had a heart attack,” the statement read.
“Even after all medical assistance was provided immediately, we still lost her. She was taken to the hospital in London, and procedures are being followed. From the first moments, Air Albania contacted her family, and we continue to be close to them in these difficult moments.
“We will always remember Greta as a passionate professional, an excellent coworker, and a great friend to all of us. May God mercy her and give peace to the family. Air Albania will continue to be with her family.”
