Christine McVie’s cause of death has been revealed months after she passed away at the age of 79.
The English musician, singer, and songwriter was best known as a prominent keyboardist and vocalist for the rock band Fleetwood Mac.
Besides her role in Fleetwood Mac, the musician also immortalized her name in the music scene thanks to her membership in several other bands including Chicken Shack.
The singer’s death was announced by her family back in November in a heartbreaking statement that read:
“On behalf of Christine McVie’s family, it is with a heavy heart we are informing you of Christine’s death. She passed away peacefully at the hospital this morning, Wednesday, November 30th, 2022, following a short illness. She was in the company of her family.
“We would like everyone to keep Christine in their hearts and remember the life of an incredible human being, and revered musician who was loved universally.”
Now, four months after the world lost an outstanding musician, Christine’s cause of death has been revealed.
According to The Blast, the singer’s death certificate indicates that she died of an ischemic stroke – a form of stroke that occurs when a blood clot blocks an artery leading to the brain.
Listed on the death certificate was also the singer’s secondary cause of death – cancer that Christine was previously diagnosed with.
According to the reports, the 79-year-old’s cancer was classified as “metastatic malignancy of unknown primary origin,” meaning that cancer had already spread throughout the entire body though its origin remains unknown.
