It was an emotional affair for one family after a prisoner was set free after being declared misidentified for a case that he was accused of committing.
Sources from local media outlets say the alleged suspect was wrongly convicted and therefore sent to prison to serve a jail sentence.
The fact that he was being forced to serve a prison sentence that was nearly 400 years long stunned the world. But it was all thanks to the state of Florida which opted to reinvestigate the case. And that is what gave him a slight glimmer of hope that maybe he might be given a second shot at life, his mother revealed.
It was in the year 2020 when he applied to mention that he was factually innocent. But it was not long before the prosecutors that examined his case felt that he would have a shot of being declared innocent because he was not responsible for this crime.
And when he was actually proven innocent, sources revealed that he actually did not have a grudge. “I cannot even hate, I’m just so glad that I was given a second shot at life. It’s as simple as that”- he added.
The moving images of Sidney Holmes crying and plenty of tears rolling down his face after he was exonerated for something that goes as far back as the year 1988 had the world at a complete standstill. They were so happy for him and his loved ones.
Sidney Holmes was caught driving a vehicle that was similar in appearance to the vehicle driven by another suspect who robbed an individual of his money. And that mistaken identity is what put him in this daunting situation to begin with.
