Two US-based fighters were recently taken away as prisoners of war in Ukraine after being caught by Russian troops.
According to local media reports, this is the first time that American fighters were seen taking part in the ongoing conflict between the two nations, leaving so many people in a state of complete shock.
Robert Dreuke and Andy Huynh were seen being escorted as prisoners of war last week as harrowing images were recently unveiled by the Russians in this regard.
Now, more fears are growing about how these fighters would be handed death sentences.
The duo is believed to be from Alabama but it is yet to be determined if they knew one another from before or if they had become friends right before they each traveled on their own to Ukraine, on a voluntary basis.
Sources claim that the duo wished to fight alongside the Ukrainians and help them in defeating the Russians but little did they know that they would end up being caught and taken up as war prisoners in the end.
One of the men’s comrades mentioned how he had lost sight of the duo while an intense fight had broken out during the battle of Kharkiv. These two men were stated to be a part of a group of ten men that had been brutally ambushed by the Russians, explained reports.
Both men were called out for their bravery as they reportedly managed to disable an entire Russian tank on their own using a grenade but the smoke from the weapon fogged their sight and that is what led to their capture in the end.
