A horrifying blaze is said to have ripped through Philadelphia recently, leaving four people dead, including three young children.
According to local media reports, the fire is said to have taken place at a rowhouse in the city, where active and working smoke detectors were not functioning during the early hours of Sunday morning.
Officials claim one 38-year-old woman was immediately hospitalized after jumping out of the window of her two-story high building in an effort to try and escape the tragic disaster.
The location of the incident was identified as Hartville Street in the Kensington neighborhood, as recently reported by ABC News.
Despite the quick arrival of firefighters to the scene of the blaze, the four people just couldn’t make it out alive, three of them being children.
One of the adults that passed away in the tragedy is said to have urged the woman to jump and save her life as that was the only choice left.
“He told her to jump, he then said go and I’ll grab the kids but he just couldn’t make it out alive. Those were his final words”- one of the neighbors revealed.
Firefighters who responded to the blaze at around 2 am on Sunday claim there was a heavy fire that had involved both floors of the home. Around 60 PFD firefighters had responded to the emergency call for help and they are believed to have extinguished the fire in two hours.
As of now, the exact cause of the fire is yet to be revealed and authorities are waiting for the results from the Medical Examiner’s office to determine the victims’ cause of death.
