Same-gender couples in Switzerland are rejoicing after a new law allows them to tie the knot while calling their marriage legal!
The news is said to mark a significant day in the country’s history as it’s a moment of great celebration for both lesbians and those belonging to the gay community.
This makes Switzerland the 31st nation across the globe to legalize same-s*x marriage.
Meanwhile, some reports from last year went as far as mentioning how around 65% of the country’s population had voted in favor of the law and hoped to see such marriage being legal and a true milestone for obvious reasons.
The mayor of Geneva Marie Barbey Chappuis has officiated the first-ever gay marriage ceremony, adding a whole new element of celebrations in the nation.
“I never knew that I would be living in a country where the landscape for same-gender marriages would alter so much in such a short timespan”- mentioned one citizen who also welcomed the news with open arms.
