A court hearing on Thursday turned violent when the 22-year-old man accused of killing a mother and throwing her child in the Ohio River was attacked by the child’s grieving father.
The devastated father of the 3-year-old victim stormed into a courtroom to attack Desean Brown after the hearing wrapped up.
Surveillance video shows Antonio Hughes walking to the defense table where 22-year-old Desean Brown was sitting before he repeatedly punched the suspect.
Brown is accused of stabbing 29-year-old Nyteisha Lattimore in December 2020 before throwing her toddler son, Nylo Lattimore, into the Ohio River. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.
Police escorted Hughes out of the Hamilton County courtroom after he crept up behind Brown and hit him in the face with a hook.
He kept on punching Brown until two officers stopped him by wrestling him to the ground.
Even after he was cuffed, the grieving father tried to break free from officers and continued to lunge at the suspect.
Judge Megan Shanahan sentenced Hughes to seven days in the Hamilton County Justice Center.
Brown reportedly stabbed Lattimore inside of a Walnut Hills apartment on December 5, 2020. He then put her lifeless body in a bag before getting an Uber to take him to the Ohio River.
He told the driver that he was hauling clothes from another town.
The mother’s body was discovered near the Purple People Bridge on December 12, 2020. Officers said that Nylo’s blood was found on a Paw Patrol blanket that was recovered with the mother’s body.
The toddler’s stroller was also found in the Ohio River.
Investigators told a judge that Brown stabbed Lattimore to death as she had a miscarriage and thought the child was his, according to WCPO 9.
The toddler’s body hasn’t been found.
