A Toronto father whose three young children were killed by a drunk driver took his own life after the killer was granted full release.
In September 2015, Edward Lake’s three young kids – including 2-year-old Milly, 5-year-old Harry, and 9-year-old Daniel – died after now-35-year-old Marco Muzzo, the son of a billionaire construction tycoon, ran a stop sign and slammed into the family’s minivan in Canada.
“We close our eyes and they’re all we see. This is a nightmare that will never go away,” Edward told the reporters at the time.
Following the tragic incident, Muzzo, who at the time had a history of speeding offenses and public intoxication, was sentenced to nine years and four months in prison and issued a 12-year driving ban.
Just four years later, in 2021, the construction business heir was granted full parole followed by a full release on June 18, 2022.
Two days after Muzzo’s release and one day after the international Father’s Day, Edward took his life, leaving behind his wife and the mother of their three deceased children.
“My children’s father, Edward Lake, has joined our kids so they can play together, forever. Mahal kita [I love you], Edward,” the man’s wife of 16 years, Jennifer Neville-Lake, confirmed in a Facebook post.
“The eyes he shared with Harry are forever closed Daniel’s curls will never shine in the sunlight again I will never see Milly’s shy smile creep across his lips anymore.”
As the grieving mother previously told parole officers, she attempted to take her own life shortly after her children’s life support was turned off back in 2015. At the time, she also suffered a miscarriage.
Our thoughts are with Jennifer as she continues to grieve the loss of her beloved husband and children.
