A young man was killed by lightning while riding his horse in Nebraska.
27-year-old Terrel Vineyard from Oshkosh was a professional rodeo cowboy, a husband, and a father of three daughters who was struck by a bolt of lightning while riding his steed on June 21.
It was since revealed that the beloved ranchman died instantly and just months after he and his wife Stacey tied the knot in a private ceremony.
As the grieving widow explained, she and Terrel were planning on having a wedding reception for their families and friends this August.
Stacey also described her late husband as a doting father who adored her, believed in her, and supported her throughout their relationship.
“We were perfect for one another. You showed me love, you adored me and made me feel like the most beautiful woman. You believed in me and supported me,” she said in her heartbreaking tribute to the cowboy.
“You were always so proud of the girls and I. Our time was short, too short, I want to be so selfish about it but I am holding on to the amazing years we did have together.
“God needed you before we could celebrate our marriage but our dance party in the living room a few weeks ago, with girls in their dresses, our boots.”
Vineyard was born into a family of ranch cowboys and learned how to ride a horse and rope by the age of just six. As a young boy, he went on to win several awards and earn his place in the Junior High National Rodeo Finals.
Following a rodeo scholarship at LCCC in Wyoming, Vineyard became known as a rodeo protégé and was trained by several high-profile mentors in the industry before returning to his home in 2017 to work on his family ranch alongside his father.
Our thoughts are with Terrel’s wife and children during this challenging time.
