A man stands accused of killing his entire family including his children and his wife before taking his own life.
On Wednesday morning, a distraught nanny called the police and told them she had found her boss and his entire family dead inside their Phoenix, Arizona, home.
The babysitter also reported a strong gas odor coming from inside the home located near the 7th and Northern Avenues.
After the authorities arrived at the scene, they had to wait for more than an hour before entering the house due to the strong presence of gas.
Once inside, they found the bodies of 40-year-old Marla Hudgens and 44-year-old Jasen Hudgens along with the bodies of their children.
The police have since revealed the evidence suggests Jasen Hudgens killed his wife and their three children, including 6-month-old twins and a 3-year-old son, before shooting himself dead.
As of this writing, the investigation remains ongoing and the official causes of death have yet to be established.
Since the suspected murder-suicide incident, some sources told CBS5 News that the mother was “unhappy” and that she wanted her marriage to Jasen to end.
Family friends, however, insisted they never thought things would get out of hand and end so badly for everyone involved.
“What I want everybody to know [is] this was never a thought in our mind. We knew they were marriage struggles, but not to this degree,” one neighbor said.
Speaking out was also Lewis Roca, a Phoenix law firm where Marla was a partner.
“We are in complete shock and are only just beginning to process this awful tragedy. Marla was a passionate lawyer and advocate for her clients. She was an equally passionate leader who worked tirelessly to make our firm a better place,” they expressed in a statement.
