A dedicated and hardworking father-of-three has passed away after putting his life on the line to save his 14-year-old daughter.
Warren ‘Wazza’ Laing was a dad-of-three from Western Australia who was swimming with his daughter, 14-year-old Miley-Jayde, at Middleton Beach in Albany on January 14.
While taking a dip in the sea, the pair got pulled deeper into the water by a rip current.
According to the reports, Warren managed to push his daughter to the shore before being swept away by the current.
Laing was brought to the shore by another member of the public who performed CPR while waiting for the first responders to arrive at the scene. Unfortunately, the father was pronounced dead shortly after being rushed to the hospital.
His sister-in-law, Alisia Coyne, has since launched a GoFundMe page to help Warren’s family arrange the send-off he deserves.
“He was the heart and soul of the family. He brought happiness and laughter to everyone who knew him or met him,” she expressed.
“Wazza loved the water and if you didn’t find him at the local pool, you found him down the beach with the kids, nieces and nephews. He died a hero and he will always be remembered as such.”
Coyne went on to explain that Warren was the family’s main source of income. He was a father to three children aged 14, 17, and 24.
“Wazza was the provider for his family, and now with him gone, Rennae and the children need support,” she added.
“If you can donate any amount, it would be truly appreciated so we can ensure our hero is given a send-off equal to the man that he was when he was alive.”
Our thoughts remain with the Laing family during this challenging time.
