A father was placed on a suicide watch after he learned that his 2-year-old son was mauled to death by two bloodthirsty dogs in front of his horrified mother.
Jyedon Pollard tragically died after he was attacked by a Rottweiler and cattle dog at Cowra’s Country Gardens Motor Inn where the dogs ripped at his neck and face, causing severe injuries.
The toddler was pulled by Matt McIIIhatton, the motel owner, who bundled up the child in a blanket and rushed him to a hospital with the mother.
Ms. Pollard, a mother-of-three, had been living at the motel temporarily with her children as they waited to into a new Housing Department home.
According to witnesses, the dogs were still circulating around the motel owner’s legs as he tried to get the child to safety.
Jyedon arrived at Cowra Hospital in critical condition before he was airlifted to Westmead Hospital where he passed away.
His grieving aunt, Tearna O’Hanlon, shared how she broke the devastating news to the toddler’s father, Brayden O’Hanlon, while he was in prison.
“I was able to tell Brayden what has happened. He’s not doing too good,” Ms. O’Hanlon said.
“Hopefully Brayden is going to be released from prison by the weekend.”
O’Hanlon is reportedly facing a hearing on charges including breaking and entering, car theft, robbery and assault.
He faced the Supreme Court on another case but was ordered to return to his cell the day before his son was attacked by the dogs.
It is understood that he is being closely monitored over fears he may self-harm after the news of his son’s death left him broken.
