A four-year-old girl tragically died in a car crash that left her family heartbroken and devastated.
Gracie-Anne Wheaton was traveling with her mom Rhiannon and stepfather when the accident happened.
According to Wales Online, four people were taken to hospital after the collision.
Emergency service vehicles including two helicopters rushed to the scene of the crash.
Officers stopped the traffic in all directions for hours as long lines formed on the roads after the accident.
A spokesman for Welsh Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 1.41pm to reports of a road traffic accident on the westbound carriageway of the M4 near junction 28.
“We sent multiple resources to the scene, including a rapid response vehicle, three emergency ambulances, the Hazardous Area Response Team, the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service and an air ambulance.
A spokesperson for the police said: “If you have dash-cam footage, or any information that could help the investigation, please call us on 101, quoting 2200041245, or you can DM us.”
A 41-year-old man was arrested and charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving and causing death by dangerous driving. Gwent Police said that the culprit is set to appear before Newport Magistrates Court.
Gracie-Anne’s grieving family have set up a GoFundMe page for the young girl’s funeral.
Her great-uncle Darren Lucas said: “We are a very close family and we are all devastated and heartbroken.
“We just can’t take it in and have set up a fundraising page just to help the family out in some way.”
One person wrote on the fundraising page: “I don’t know you but I was there on Saturday and I’m beyond sickened for all of your family.
“Can barely see my screen writing this out. Hope the funds will help in any small way possible.”
Another said: “I was very sad to hear of this terrible incident and loss of your little girl.
“My thoughts are with the family.”
