The grieving family of a 12-year-old boy who tragically died during a game of Russian Roulette has spoken out.
The lifeless body of Markell Noah was discovered in an abandoned house in Audubon Place, Jackson after his family reported him missing.
Police reportedly arrested and charged two minors and one adult regarding Markell’s death.
Jackson police Deputy Chief Deric Hearn told WLBT that Markell’s body had been found in an abandoned suburban house.
But heartbroken members of the boy’s family believe that Markell didn’t die during the game but officers are still investigating his death.
Speaking to WAPT, resident Star Appleberry said that it is the parents’ job to “know who your children are participating with and who your child are coming in contact with.”
“Stay on your children. Be nosey. Know what they are doing and they are doing it with,” Appleberry said, adding that “everybody is going to need some help with this situation.”
The family and the local community are mourning the death of Markell, who had just celebrated his 12th birthday two weeks ago.
Taking to Facebook, Latoya Harris wrote: “My heart is so heavy. This young King was my son friend. He was always a delight very respectful and well mannered.
“He ate with us and called me ma. Praying for strength and understanding for the family of Markell Noah. You will be missed baby boy. We love you.”
Markell’s grieving sister Nunu also said that she doesn’t believe he died while playing a Russian Roulette.
“MARKELL DEATH WAS NOT ABOUT A GAME,” she wrote on Facebook.
She also took to Instagram and shared photos of conversations she had with Markell’s friend.
“Not everything on the news is real. It wasn’t nothing about a game being played…I WANT JUSTICE IN EVERY WAY POSSIBLE FOR MY 12 year old brother,” she wrote.
The investigation continues.
