An employee from Florida’s Dunkin Donuts has reportedly been sentenced to house arrest after fatally punching one customer that used a racial slur against him.
According to reports from local media outlets, the employee who hails from Tampa in Florida brutally punched the customer last year and has now been sentenced to two years of house arrest.
The news comes after he pleaded guilty recently by the court for carrying out felony battery.
Sources claim that the suspect was identified as 27-year-old Cory Pujols who has now also been reportedly ordered by the court of law to fulfill 200 hours of community service while attending an anger management course as well.
The Tampa Police Department revealed how the striking incident took place at about 1:30 pm at the Dunkin Donuts location on 410S. 50th Street.
Meanwhile, the victim was identified as a 77-year-old white man named Vonelle Cook who was reportedly white and had made his way to the restaurant’s drive-thru section to place his order that comprised of coffee.
The victim suddenly lost his cool when over the lack of professional service being delivered to him while he tried to place an order.
It has been revealed how the employees at the franchise had some trouble hearing what he was trying to say and that’s when he began to yell out at them for the poor service being given.
On that note, the employees told Cook to please leave for behaving in this manner. However, he refused to do so and instead opted to park his vehicle and walk right inside.
Soon, he was seen behaving very aggressively and that’s when he even began to carry out verbal abuse to some of the employees that were inside.
One employee called the police on him but before they arrived, Cook and Pujols got into a heated argument and that’s when the latter fatally punched him for calling him a racial slur.
