A 19-year-old worker has been arrested for allegedly planning a mass shooting with an AR-15 rifle at an Amazon warehouse where he worked.
Rodolfo Valdivia Aceves was taken into custody on a charge of terroristic threats.
San Antonio Police rushed to the Amazon warehouse on 8210 Sous Vide Way after staff at the delivery station reported that they heard the teen plotting a mass shooting.
According to News4 San Antonio, Aceves told a colleague that “it would be a good idea to pull the fire alarm and have all employees exit the building and to commit a mass shooting.”
Police said that Aceves was arrested by SAPD Covert operations units and the SAPD Street Crimes Unit.
In a statement, San Antonio police said: “This case highlights the importance of community collaboration and appropriate responses. This is the essence of ‘see something, say something.
“If not for the witness who came forward, this incident could have resulted in a tragic outcome.”
The coworker of the teen told officers that she had taken a ride from Aceves. When she said that she had to pick up her children from school, he allegedly said that he knew where he was going to commit the massacre.
She also claimed that Acevez previously said that he ‘idolized’ the gunman who killed 19 children and two teachers at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas on May 24.
After the arrest, officers questioned the teen’s father, who told them that he had just bought an AR-15 rifle and his family were left terrified of what he would do.
Aceves’ father also told police that his son suffered from a mental health condition and had received treatment when he was 16, News4 reported.
The teen had been on medication for two years but he had recently stopped taking them.
