A 70-year-old woman was recently crushed to death by a giant elephant in India but it was horrifying for many to see the elephant strike again during her final rituals at the temple.
According to local media reports, the woman was trampled to death by the giant creature while she was out collecting water in her village called Raipal. It is said to be located in the eastern part of India. But to her shock and surprise, she was forced to confront the giant animal.
Sources claim the elephant managed to escape from the sanctuary and hence suddenly came out of nowhere, taking the woman by great surprise. Therefore, he trampled her to death during the early hours of Thursday morning.
The woman who was 70 years old had sustained some critical injuries on her body as a result of the attack. She soon passed away later on as stated by the police inspector named Lopamudra Nayak.
As if one deadly attack was not enough, the elephant is said to have returned in the evening while her loved ones were carrying out her final rituals during her funeral.
Her body was lying above the funeral pyre and that’s when the giant animal grabbed a hold of her remains and brought it down.
It then threw her around and then went off somewhere in the night, as reported by the Press Trust of India. The scary creature is believed to have made its way toward the Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary which is located in the state of Jharkhand. This location is around 200 km from Raipal, explained the officials.
It is yet to be determined if any other person was hurt as a result of the elephant’s attack. But it is believed that once the elephant left, the family did manage to carry on with her funeral.
